D20 Thinkstation Motherboard temperature is too high!

2016-10-27, 9:04 AM

Hi, please help:

1. Aida64 shows very high motherboard temperature. The graph is jigsaw from normal to 250C!! See the pics. I assume this is the 5520 chipset temperature? Is something wrong? or should I ignore that?

2. Occasionally the cpu fans start working full speed, though there is no load and the cpu temps are below 50C. Can it be that the cpu fans start blowing because of the wrong motherboard sensor temps?

I'd appreciate if somebody knows how to fix that.

It turned out the external temperature sensor was not connected. Now that it's connected it shows motherboard temps around 73c.

I'd have to take a look at this piece of software, but off the top of my head I can't say I believe those readings are entirely accurate.  I'm not sure if that software has access to the correct registers to properly read the temp sensors or not.  Once we're able to free up some bandwidth, we'll have to take a look at this software in the lab to see if we can replicate anything like what you're seeing.
