welcome to the forum!
regarding waking from sleep, the only method i know to prevent the keyboard from waking your system is to disconnect the keyboard. there might be an options in the BIOS somewhere to control this but i don't recall seeing one and am not able to reboot my system right now to check.
regarding the fans not throttling down, there are two ways to fix it. the first is to wake the system using the power button instead of the keyboard. the second is to plug the keyboard into a rear USB port instead of a front. both of these tricks have worked for other users with success.

Hi,
I have found a solution to the keyboard/mouse "wake from sleep" problem, which transpires to be a Windows Vista setting.
Solution to disable computer from waking from sleep when keyboard or mouse used when using Vista is as follows:
Right-click "computer" and select "Manage"
Click on "Device Manager"
Expand "keyboards" entry in right-hand pane
Right-click on "HID Keyboard Device" and select properties
Click "Power Management" tab
Uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer"
Click OK
Repeat for mouse
Expand "Mice and other pointing devices" entry in right-hand pane
Right-click on "HID-compliant mouse" and select properties
Click "Power Management" tab
Uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer"
Click OK
Close device manager
Put computer/OS to sleep
It should now not be possible to wake the computer when clicking the mouse or the keyboard!
Yay! I have a messy desk that I also use as an electronics workbench and it was driving me mad when I would unintentionally wake the computer when bumping the keyboard. Or when my children would unintentionally wake the computer. Or when the cleaner would unintentionally wake the computer....
