Lenovo P620 SSD M.2 PCIe Gen4 Compatibility

2021-04-06, 7:36 AM

Greetings,

I just acquired new P620 which has "sdbqnty-512g-1001" basically WDC SN730; and looking for QVL for RAMs and SSDs did not reveal anything, the question, are WD SN740 1,2 TB, or Samsung 850 1, 2TB compatible?

Thank you.

Congratulations on your new P620 workstation.  First off, the WDC SN730 M.2 NVMe drives are Gen3 drives (not Gen4).

For Gen4 M.2 NVMe drives, we support the following:

- Samsung PM9A1 - 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities

- Kioxia XG7 - 256GB, 512GB, 1TB capacities

Please keep in mind that the onboard M.2 slots on the P620 platform are capable of running gen4 M.2 drives at gen4 speeds.  Our single and quad M.2 add-in card that we offer is locked to gen3...meaning, gen4 drives will only run at gen3 speeds in these add-in cards.

Thank you for the reply, just realized how I typed all wrongly, question was about the Samsung 980 PCIe gen4 , and WD SN850 yet it was answered.
If I may ask about the AMD Radeon Pro W5500 being supported/compatible?

Yep, we don't support the Samsung 980 nor the WD SN850 Gen4 M.2 NVMe drives.

Yep, we fully support the AMD Radeon Pro W5500 GPU in the P620 platform
