Lenovo ThinkStation C20 Crossfire

2017-08-29, 14:56 PM

Good day, I have recently purchased a Lenovo ThinkStation C20. Original Graphics crad has been replaced with ATI AMD HD 4650, which supports bridgeless crossfire. Now i have possibility to buy exact same card for really low price, so my question is: Does C20 motherboard support bridgeless crossfire? Thank you for answer.

Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately CrossFire with or without a bridge isn't supported in the C20. You should be able to use both cards simultaneously since they look to have low power requirements, but they won't CrossFire together.

Thats what I was afraid of. But is there ANY, even with minimal chance, possibility, that cards will CrossFire? Using various third-party software etc. Since they are low-end cards with no ultra-modern technologies.

No idea, honestly. It's not something that was tested on the C20. NVidia SLI support didn't happen until the S/C/D30 so I don't see PCIe bridging working on anything earlier than a 30-series.

You're welcome to try, however, don't get your hopes up. If using the second AMD card pivots on CrossFire functioning then be sure to purchase from a vendor with a good return policy in case it doesn't work.

I can't give you much help beyond that. The C20 is long outside of the development schedule so we wouldn't even be able to test this in the lab for confirmation. You're on your own, unfortunately.

If you do try it, let us know what happens.

I will try. The card is already used, bought from second hand, but will cost me around $18 (Its the most powerful HD 4650 made, manufactured in HP, with 1GB DDR3 and overclocked core speed from 600 to 725 MHz.). In the worst case, i will have spare one, if one blows up :D
I will let you know if i will or not make it work together after using all of possibilities to do so.
