Locked out of P340 Tiny because of PEG error

2021-01-08, 19:51 PM

Hi, please help. I was trying to adjust my GPU settings in the BIOS of my P340 Tiny. After hitting PEG, thinking it was dedicated GPU (my stupid error), it now boots to a black screen. I can't access anything. I've tried F1 multiple times for bios, nothing happening. Tried to boot from USB, also not working. This is nuts.

Any fix for this would be really appreciated!

Clearing CMOS should reset all the BIOS settings to factory and hopefully allow you to boot properly again.

Check the User Guide or HMM if you need instructions on how to perform that procedure.

Depending on your configuration and what exactly you changed in BIOS, you might still be able to get video output without clearing CMOS.  If you set video output to PEG in BIOS and you have a discrete GPU such as the P620 or P1000 installed, then you should be able to boot with video output as long as your display is connected to the discrete GPU and not the onboard port (assuming your CPU supports graphics output as well).  But if that doesn't work, clearing CMOS is the best way to recover from a mistaken BIOS change like that.

PEG mode = PCIe graphics mode

What's your system configuration? Do you have a discrete graphics card in your P340 Tiny ? If so, then simply plug your monitor in to the discrete GPU.

If that doesn't work, you can try clearing CMOS.  This involves moving powering down the , moving the clear CMOS jumper (shown on page 58 of the HMM ), powering on the system until you hear 2 short beeps.  At this point, power down the system and move the clear CMOS jumper back to the original position.

It has a NVIDIA Quadro P620 2GB as the discrete GPU. You're saying in order to actually use dedicated GPU, I can't just switch it but I have to physically connect it?

I am trying very hard to figure out the CMOS thing. I've stripped the machine, but it's impossible to see where it is. Here's a picture. Is it the little red thing?

This is the model I have - https://www.heinzsoft-shop.de/PC-Systeme/Computer/Desktop/lenovo-thinkstation-p340-komplettsystem-core-i5-ram-8-gb-hdd-256-gb-nvme.html

I'm connecting it to a ThinkCentre TIO24 Gen 4 monitor. Which cable would i need to run it from the dedicated GPU?

Thank you.

Edit: I think I've removed the CMOS. I've taken it out of slots 1 + 2 and moved it into the following row. I don't hear a beep when re-booting, though. Any advice?

I fixed it, thanks. The CMOS thing worked. Super annoying, but my bad.
