Looking for correct current part/number for P910 30B9 M.2 SSD Flex Adapter with heatsink/pad

2020-04-19, 1:04 AM

I currently have a ThinkStation P910, 30B9-001VUS that shipped with the first M.2 SSD Flex adapter (pictured attached in 3 pics after temporarily removing from my system) with 512GB Samsung drive in it and would like to order a second adapter also pictured below for the top of the unit with 2nd CPU installed, so I can have 4 total M.2 drives in the system.

I can't seem to find the proper current part number for ordering to ensure it comes with the heatsink & pad.

This pic comes from this Lenovo page but shows no heatsink & pad:  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ACC100095

Have you tried parts lookup?  Don't post your serial number online/here but if you input below it should give you part numbers for your product.  I just pulled up P910 parts.

@green5178, yes I checked that resource, but I was hoping someone could confirm for me whether the above part number 4XH0G78729, in top pic, comes with both pieces or not, despite the picture from the Lenovo website. Also, the actual Flex Adapter you listed above, 00FC950, is not orderable form Lenovo.

Its backordered 30 days but you can order it from Lenovo Encompass store in my screen snip.  See below.

https://lenovo.encompass.com/item/11423891/Lenovo/00FC950/

I dont know for sure about your other question but the pics on parts website dont show the heat sink.  Maybe if you call Encompass or email them they will be able to tell you?  The good thing is the other part is not too expensive.  I know its a waste to order though if the other part comes with it.

Option kit 4XH0G78729 is the correct kit for what you're trying to do, but I believe that kit has officially been EOL'd so you might have trouble finding it.  The images on the site are old, but I've confirmed the BOM does list all the parts (FLEX adapter, thermal kit, and heatsink).

If you go the FRU path, you'll need to purchase a few individual FRUs as opposed to just one FRU kit:

  • 00FC950 - this is the actual FLEX adapter assembly
  • 00FC958 - this is the thermal kit for the FLEX adapter (should consist of the thermal pad for the heatsink and the one that goes between PCB and drive)
  • 02CW006 - this is the M.2 heatsink.
