P330 Tower Wifi - Bluetooth add-on

2019-11-21, 5:49 AM

Have a P330 workstation without WiFi or Bluetooth. If i am correct i can add Intel 9560NGW wifi/bt combo card.

i have purchased an aftermarket card and installed it but am unable to get it to be recognized by Windows 10.

is there something else that i need to do to enable this m2 slot to make card work?

attached is the card installed.

I would suggest checking to ensure the card is enabled in BIOS.

Go into BIOS setup (F1), then go to Devices, then I believe you should see an option listed for Wireless LAN.  Double check to make sure that's enabled.

We've qualified the 9560 on that platform, but I did notice that the Intel MM# on your card (957715) is slightly different than the one listed on our supported card (957714).  I'm not sure what the differences might be between those two MM#s, but I suspect it's pretty minor.

Went into BIOS. No where do I see wireless option.

You should probably edit your last post to remove that screen capture since it contains SN info about your system.  This is for your own protection more than anything.

Let me check to see if there is anything going on in BIOS that I'm not expecting.

I'm guessing you know that the antennas are not connected in your picture?  It shouldn't affect the card showing or not showing in BIOS setup, but it will obviously affect function.

I might have miscommunicated where to look in BIOS previously.  With the adapter installed, go into BIOS setup (F1), then Devices, then Network Setup.  From within that menu, you should see an option for Wireless LAN (enabled/disabled).  That option should only show up if a wifi adapter is properly inserted/detected.

From what I can tell from here, we're not doing anything unique in BIOS to block enumeration of non-qualified cards.  I was able to get both a 9560 (supported) and 9260 (not supported) to show the wireless LAN option in BIOS setup.

If you're still not getting it to show up, try reinstalling the card and making sure it's being retained properly by the plastic plunger in the assembly.

Thank you. Small oversight on my part.

I thought perhaps maybe I had gotten a defective card so I purchase another card and I still am still unable to do have the machine detect the card. Do you have any other suggestions to be able to make this card work ? Are there perhaps jumpers on board to disable that slot ? do i require the vpro card?

I'll have to look into this again next week.

You shouldn't need the Vpro card unless you're trying to maintain Vpro support for the system.  There are no jumpers or anything related to support for the card slot.  I'll have to follow up with the BIOS team for that platform to see if they are possibly whitelisting only specific wifi cards for some reason.  From the testing I did earlier this week I don't think that's the case, but I'll try to follow up next week.
