P340 Workstation (ThinkStation) - Type 30DH not showing disk partions

Hello All,

I am trying to reinstall windows 10 on this brand new machine and neither the PXE server nor the Windows 10 USB is seeing the SSD partitions. This is a known Raid issue on some of the dell machines and switching the storage RAID option off or changing to AHCI would show the disk partitions. I have tried it on this machine but the disk partitions are still missing/not showing up.  I attached a screenshot of the issue from google for reference.

I swapped the SSD to a different computer and Im able to see both the partitions with no issues. The USB and PXE boot works on a different motherboard.

So my question is, what is the setting on this MB P340 WIN AMT FTPM2 yAB Vp motherboard that's hiding/masking the disk partitions?

Re:P340 Workstation (ThinkStation) - Type 30DH not showing disk partions

Can you please share some more details on your configuration of your new P340 system?

Let's break this up into two issues:

1. PXE server not recognizing the system.

- This is likely because you need to add the onboard Intel LAN driver into the PXE server boot.wim.  You can get the driver from our P340 support site here.  I had to do this to be able to connect my P340 test system to our lab SCCM PXE server.

2. Win10 installation media not recognizing the SSD partitions.

- If you have a RAID setup in BIOS across multiple drives, then you'll need to inject the Intel RST driver into the Win10 installation media setup screen. You can find the Intel RST driver from our P340 support site here

- If you choose to not want a RAID setup, then you'll need to go into BIOS F1 setup -> "Devices" menu option -> "ATA drive setup" menu option -> Set "Configure SATA As" to "AHCI" mode.  Then press F10 to save and exit BIOS setup.  At this point, you shouldn't need the Intel RST driver injected into the Win10 installation media in order to see your SATA drives connected to the P340 workstation.

Re:P340 Workstation (ThinkStation) - Type 30DH not showing disk partions

Thank you for the reply.

I tried switching out of the RAID settings to AHCI on 3 machines and 2/3 of them were able to go through PXE boot and Windows USB with no issues.

One of the machines still refuses to show the disk partitions even after flipping secure boot off and switching to AHCI.  I added the linked Intel RST driver to the PXE server and the USB but the disk partitions are still missing. (I have tried all 3 options in the screenshot).

Could there be another setting in the BIOS? because we stumbled on a similar issue with one of the Lenovo Yoga 14 laptops recently and there was an Intel VMD that needed to be disabled as well.

Re:P340 Workstation (ThinkStation) - Type 30DH not showing disk partions

UPDATE:

I started going through the cables and found out that the power cable was loose coming out of the motherboard for the 1 remaining machine that was not working.  All is well, thank you all for all the help/suggestions.
