Re:P920 RAID 10 Volume failed

2020-06-27, 13:14 PM

I have inserted both images using copy/paste and both images were visible in my post during editing it.

But after I clicked Submit both images were gone.

I have attached the first image to this post.

I have attached the second image to this post.

Strangely when I try to attach more than one image it doesn't work.

Re:P920 RAID 10 Volume failed

Hi Vamos,

My apologies for not responding sooner.  I did not receive a notification e-mail from the forum when you posted your reply last June.  My p920 had another RAID failure a few days ago and I will be creating a new post about that soon.  In the meantime, I wanted to answer your question about the PCI-E slot status.

My p920 has one occupied M.2 Drive slot:

slot 1 is a Seagate FireCuda 510 2TB SSD (this is the C: drive)

My p920 has three occupied PCI-E slots:

slot 1 is a WiFi/Bluetooth radio

slot 3 is an Nvidia P4000

slot 7 is a ThinkStation Quad AIC M.2 SSD Adapter populated with four Seagate FireCuda 510 2TB SSDs (these are the D:, E:, and F: drives)

Slot 2 looks correct.  Its status is "Link Did Not Train"

Slot 4 looks like it has a phantom device (like your BIOS reported).  Its status is "Linked as x4"

Screenshots of the system summary, PCIE Slot2, PCIE Slot4 status are attached to this message.

Thank you for your help and watch for my post coming soon about my latest VROC incident.

-Ja

Thank you ja-fehr, for your replies.

Your P920 sees the same phantom device in PCIe Slot 4 when the Lenovo Quad AIC M2 adapter is installed and a onboard M2 slot is occupied like my P920 had.

I believe this is a bug in the Lenovo UEFI BIOS.

And it may have something to do with the Intel VROC RAID failues you had and I experienced.

I hope Lenovo will investigate this and hopefully fix it.
