Re: S10 642327A | internal upgrades (part 4): sequencing installation of internal upgrades

Thx for the clarification - I suspected that was precisely what you meant - and I have several CD-RWs w/BIOS and such on them already, so will set them up in advance, test and post back. Hopefully w/a happy POST ending for Q2000.

if i get some free time today i'll dig an S10 out again and test prior BIOS revs.   the changelog document i was referring to is much more extensive than what's posted online.

bohick - if you don't mind waiting a few days, i'll test this in the lab so you don't risk any downtime or brick your system.   thx

BIOS 43A will POST with both a Q2000 and Q2000D in the x16 slots.   rolling back from 47A or 45A will happen gracefully save for the warning message during flash to confirm the older version.

download the ISO, burn it to disc, and flash your system.   once flash is complete, power off and move the card to an x16 slot.

after this you should be all set.

So the silver bullet turned out to be 43A after all! :smileyvery-happy:

I'm sure this will sound like sweet melody to someone's ears.

Great job! Now I have to wait for the first chance I'll get to screw back the S10 motherboard to its case, and test to see if the 43A also posts on the GTX400 & GTX500 series.

Just feels so awsome to have the full support of some dedicated staff over here!:smileyhappy:

i am indeed all set. POSTed like a charm. also manages the FX1700 in the 2nd x16 slot, no issues (other than the junky old SyncMaster 153v - i put it back i becaues the adapters that came with the Q2000 are missing 4 necessary holes).

erik, couldn't have done it without you...so very glad you're still in action though retired.cliche as it may be, you truly rock.dutchice has been a morale boost from the trenches, but i have to say i am pleased as punch that my S10 remains essentially 'box stock' thx to you.
