SSD mounting bracket P330

2020-06-25, 14:53 PM

Hi,

I got new P330 the other day and I am trying to add my old SSD which has old data to 5.25 flex bay(I think what it is called). It has eSata connector on the left. Please see the picture. I see that it has sata cable going to the lower back area. Can someone guide me which mounting bracket will work in the this area? TIA

That device is the FLEX module device, but it does not support adding a 2.5" SATA SSD to it.  The SATA connection you are seeing there is likely an interposer for a slim ODD device that would install in the location you circled in your image.

What is your current storage configuration on your P330?  There are a couple of ways you can accomplish what you're trying to do, but I want to make sure we point you in the right direction.  There is a primary 3.5" bay that can be converted for 2.5" devices if not already in use.  If it is, there is an additional 2.5" bay that can be added to the system to support your SSD (assuming you don't already have it installed).

Sorry about that...lost track of this thread.

Assuming you want to keep the original 256GB 2.5" SATA SSD, then that drive would remain in the primary HDD bay and you'd have to go purchase two brackets and an adapter in order to add the additional 2 x 1TB 2.5" SATA SSDs.

Option 4XF0P01009 - This is the 2.5" Storage Bracket kit for P330.  This will install under the primary HDD bay and allow a 2.5" drive to be added.

Option 4XF0Q63396 - This is a 3.5" Storage Bracket kit for P330.  This will install under the ODD bay and typically allow for a 3.5" drive to be added.  In order to support a 2.5" drive in this bay, you'll also need to purchase FRU 00XD860.  This will provide the necessary bracket that will convert the 3.5" bay to support the 2.5" drive.

Both Option kits should come with the SATA cables required.  SATA power drops should already be in the system to support what you're doing, but it might be worth a quick spot check on your system just to ensure those SATA power drops are present.

Thank you for the reply!

Yes I want to keep the primary one as it is. I will check the power cables and then I will order both of those brackets. 3.5 bracket will go where the eSATA connector in flex bay correct.

No, both of the Option brackets listed will mount as new bays underneath the existing rotating bay assembly.  You should be able to leave the FLEX module in the ODD bay as it is now.
