ThinkStation C20 Processor Upgrade

2020-06-29, 22:55 PM

I am thinking about upgrading the processor on a ThinkStation C20, and was wondering whether the processors listed on this forum page are the only supported processors for the C20.

If not, where can I find the most current list of supported processors for the ThinkStation C20?

Ideally, I would like a processor similar to Xeon E31240 (I have this processor installed on a ThinkStation E30 and it works very well).

My machine:

ThinkStation C20 4265-98U

BIOS version: 61KT50AUS

Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5607  @ 2.27GHz

Physical Memory: 10.000 GB

OS: Windows 10 64-Bit

Graphics: Quadro 600

Thanks for your assistance!

It looks like you're looking for a CPU with a rather high clock frequency based on the specs of the E3-1240 you mentioned.

For C20, the best clock frequency CPU that is officially supported is the Xeon X5672, which is a quad core clocking at 3.2GHz.  Remember that CPUs from this era were generally clocked faster in the Core segment than the ones found in the Xeon segment.

If you upgrade to dual X5672 CPUs, you would be able to reuse your existing heatsinks as they are good for up to 95W TDP.
