Thinkstation S20 CPU Cooler Upgrade

2017-09-02, 18:58 PM

Hi there,

I have a S20 out of warranty. I have serious overheating issues so I want to install a GamerStorm Captain120 liquid cooler. The cooler comes with a mounting rack that is installed from the back of the mobo. However the mobo has threads in the cooler holes so I cant fit the mounting rack through. I tried to find a two-sided threaded screw to fit the threads in the mobo and in the cooler but no luck. Help?

Thanks!

Machine type 4157

Model # HL3

Mobo: Lenovo (not sure, see pics)

Ram: 24GB DDR3

GPU: 1070

Case: Thermaltake Element V

PSU: 750W

Welcome to the forum.

Ideally you'll want to leave the factory rear CPU support plate in place. It's far more rigid than what you received with your water cooling setup.

Can you remove the screws from your original heatsink and use those to hold down the new cooler in the correct position? That might be your best bet.
