[SOLVED] Which driver for SATA and NVMe ?

2021-04-07, 16:58 PM

Hello,

I'm trying to restore a system on a brand new ThinkStation P340 30DH with the recovery ISO Synology Active backup for business.

Unfortunately it seems like the WinPE doesn't have the right driver for the SATA and NVMe storage devices, 'cause none are found.
I tried to push manually the Intel rapid storage driver, but it didn't worked.

Does anyone know which driver I should push to get access to the disk ?

Best regards

Ian

I think Intel RST should be the correct driver package.  You might have to make sure you're choosing the correct specific driver within that package though.  For example I believe a different driver will load for RAID configs as compared to normal AHCI configs.  I'm not familiar with that software, so not sure if it's intelligent enough to seek out the correct driver from within a package containing multiple drivers.

Thanks! Problem solved.

It was the Rapid Storage Technology driver.

I've downloaded the 4 different drivers and extracted them to 4 different folders.

Then I used this tool to add the drivers to the WinPE from Synology active backup recovery.
https://www.lewan.com/blog/how-to-inject-drivers-into-a-microsoft-wds-windows-10-image

It has pushed 13 drivers and it worked.

Prepare:

  1. Create the following folders on the root of the C drive:
    1. C:\mount
    2. C:\mount\drivers
    3. C:\mount\BootWim
  2. Copy the drivers you wish to inject into the C:\Mount\Drivers folder
  3. Copy your wim file from your WDS server into to the C:\Mount folder.

 Execute:

  1. Open a CMD prompt as Administrator
  2. Navigate to C:\Mount
  3. Use the following DISM commands to mount the boot.wim:
    1. DISM /Mount-Wim /WimFile:C:\Mount\boot.wim /Index:1 /MountDir:C:\Mount\BootWIM
  4. Use the following DISM command to add the driver:
    1. DISM /Image:C:\Mount\BootWIM /Add-Driver /Driver:C:\Mount\Drivers /recurse
  5. Use the following DISM command to unmount the Boot.wim:
    1. DISM /Unmount-Wim /MountDir:C:\Mount\BootWIM /Commit
