Re: Buying Parts For a New Sr530

Hi JeffStrongman1,

You can access the local technical support phone number from the link: https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/supportphonelist or open a support ticket.

According to the limited information I had, 01KN082 is the 8x2.5 HDD BP Signal cable for SR530 and it should fit the miniSAS HD connectors of RAID 530-8i.

Re: Buying Parts For a New Sr530

Hi JeffStrongman1,

Yes, you need a riser and install the PCIe adapter into the PCIe slot, since it's a 1U server.

See the available riser options from here: Lenovo ThinkSystem SR530 (Xeon SP Gen 2), 7X07/7X08 , the part number here contains riser card and the accessories, such as riser bracket, and M3.5 screws.

Please see this page for detailed riser options from the link: ThinkServer Riser Options, you will see the riser's picture by clicking each description.

Refer to the link for installing a PCIe adapter: Install a PCIe adapter.

Re: Buying Parts For a New Sr530

Sorry, I havnt had time to look everything up. The links you provided give me gives me part numbers, and the IBM site only uses FRU part numbers, so pretty frustating trying to figure out what is what.

From the link you provided it looks like I need

"ThinkSystem SR530/SR570/SR630 x16 PCIe LP Riser 2 Kit"

https://thinksystem.lenovofiles.com/help/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.lenovo.thinksystem.options.doc%2Fove...

However that page doesnt give me a part number at all...

So if I got to this link  and find

"ThinkSystem SR530/SR570/SR630 x16 PCIe LP Riser 2 Kit"

I get part # 7XH7A02685, but does absolutly nothing for me on  https://www-store.shop.ibm.com/shop/en-US/partsusretail

Going back to the last questoin I asked it seems FRU 01GV296 is the wrong part

Going back to https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/servers/thinksystem/sr530/7x07/7x07cto1ww/j100fc...

and looking up "x16 PCIe LP Riser 2 Kit" it get a part of 01GV301.

I guess it goes back to the question is 01GV301 the correct part / riser for the 02JG102 / RAID 530-8 that I just bought.

Thank you for your time

Re: Buying Parts For a New Sr530

Hi JeffStrongman1,

The device installed in PCIe Slot 3 of riser 2 requires the second processor to be installed.

If only one processor is installed, you need to purchase the riser 1 options.

Refer to this page Lenovo ThinkSystem SR530 (Xeon SP Gen 2), 7X07/7X08, and find the detail riser description and then order the part numbers referring to the following table I made.

Re: Buying Parts For a New Sr530

Ok, I must be missing something because "https://static.lenovo.com/us/en/serverproven/thinksystem/7x07_7x08_gen2.shtml" is absolultey not helpful.

7XH7A02682 = ThinkSystem SR530/SR570/SR630 x8/x16 PCIe LP+LP Riser 1 Kit

Provider OS Support Level
OS Independent OS Independent Supported

and

7XH7A05893 = ThinkSystem SR530/SR570/SR630 x8/x16 PCIe LP+FH Riser 1 Kit

Provider OS Support Level
OS Independent OS Independent Supported

The two part number are for riser 1, and that is what i need because I only have one processor installed.

Im sorry but I really dont know what one I need. The information provided give absolutly no help to making an informed decision in what part I need to that server.

I am asuming 7XH7A02682 = ThinkSystem SR530/SR570/SR630 x8/x16 PCIe LP+LP Riser 1 Kit

LP+LP ??

and

7XH7A05893 = ThinkSystem SR530/SR570/SR630 x8/x16 PCIe LP+FH Riser 1 Kit

LP+FH ??

is this deciding factor here?

I appreciate the help, I really do. I just need to know what part will work in this machine.
