How to troubleshoot when powering on the server cannot get into the operating system and returns to stanby mode?

Hi Yenohash, You symptom description is much rough, and we still couldn't get to know the details symptom or the real failure. Can you let us know more details of the issue? Where did the machine end and then return to standy mode when POST? May be a screenshot of the failure is better to present the issue. Also, any error log generated about the issue? There is a long process to boot into OS, anything broken in the process may cause the boot fail. So we try to get to known where did the POST fail. Maybe, you could do a mini config test to see if help. Thanks. Karl

Hi Karl, thank you for your reply. I hope the following screenshots could help you get to know the real issue. 

 

This shows up after we power on the server. 

 

 

Then into this one but after a while it return to standby mode and the orange LED in the equipment lights up.

Hi Yenohash,

 

 

It looks like the server cannot find the boot devices according to the second screenshot.

 

Please press F1 to enter System Setup> UEFI setup> Boot Manager> Change Boot Order, and then change appropriate boot option. When complete, save the changes and restart the system. The server will boot from the device as the the boot order on the next time boot.

 

According to the third screenshot, refer to the Front I/O assembly and enter the UEFI Setup> System Event log, and check if any system error event is logged for troubleshooting. For more detailed on the log description, please refer to here: Messages

Hello Sir,

It seems like your system is remaining very old FW level and not configured with the BMC IP for management, i would suggest you to firstly download the BOMC and make a bootable device to update your system with the latest FW level, if any issue remains afterward, please boot your system to LXPM (press F1) and then collect logs in diagnostics section.

seem like there was no booting disk 

 

possible reason:

 

 1. make sure the vd was there and in optimal state if you create vd ,and install os on that vd

 

 

 2. if you install os with boot mode =legacy, after os installation, you should boot os with legacy boot

 

 

  if you install os by uefi mode,  you should boot os with uefi mode, normally there was boot  entry on the boot list.   if no there in the boot order, pls manually add the boot entry. 

 

(boot from file, to check any bootable disk)
