Replacing RAID Controller without losing data

2020-12-23, 20:41 PM

Hi,

My X3500 M3 7380AC1 refused to boot and displayed message "Multibit ECC errors were detected on the RAID controller. The DIMM on the controller needs replacement. Please contact technical support to resolve this issue. If you continue, data corruption can occur. Press 'X' to continue or else power off the system and replace the DIMM module and reboot. If you have replace the DIMM press'X" to continue".

Will I lose all the data (RAID configuration) after replacing RAID controller (I have ServerRAID M5014 SAS/SATA Controller)

I see my configuration using WebBIOS (Ctrl-H) but I don't see anyway how to save this configuration and restore to new controller.

Please help.

Regards

Jacek Pawlowski

Hi Jacek

You can replace the same RAID controller to restore your array configuration and data.

Please refer KB - How to import a foreign array configuration into a RAID controller using UEFI text mode to import the foreign array configuration after replace RAID controller.

Hi,

I am waiting for the new RAID controller (delayed by COVID). As soon as I get it I will try the solution.
