SE350 OS Installation - Error No available image file found

2020-05-22, 16:52 PM

I created a boot iso USB drive (xfs format) for RHEL 7.6, but the Guided installation cannot detect the file. Thanks in advance!

Hi Attobahn,

Please refer to the following information to create the bootable media.

– USB storage drive

To create a USB installation medium, refer to the documentation at:

http://cn.download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkservers/how_to_create_usb_os_installation_media.pdf

Thank you for the reply! I have been able to proceed further, but there appears to be an issue reading the signature from the BMC. When I first load up the XClarity Provisioning Manager, it claims there is an issue with the BMC. I have restarted it, and separately done a full power cycle. This device is in my home not a data center and I am not a sysadmin, just a run of the mill Software Engineer that gets random stuff dropped in my lap =).

I have been trying for almost 2 weeks to set this thing up, being sent here and there, sending emails to divisions that say it is not their responsiblity then pointing me to a support page where I contacted them from. It has been frustrating and I would just like to either find someone who can ACTUALLY help or the right documentation to help someone that is not completely knowledgeable with initializing servers.

Thanks, and thanks in advance if you can help!

Hey Attobahn. Were you able to get this issue resolved? Were you trying to load the OS with the Guided Install from the XClarity Provisioning Manager? This is how I attempted to do it and I got the same error message. I ended up creating a creating a boot drive on a USB. Rufus is a nifty tool for that. BTW - I too have one of these systems in my home for some private lab work. The built in switch is terrible to work with since I don't know UIC very well at all.
