SE350 - XClarity Controller Networking problems with Wireless LOM

2020-07-03, 23:58 PM

This system networking issues with XCC not working correctly is really a problem.  I'm at the point were I just can't trust what the network configuration settings in XCC are doing.

Here is an example:

In XCC -> Edge Networking -> Edge Device Network Topology

Network Topology preset #4 is selected.

Additionally WiFi Connectivity is Enabled and is configured as a Client with a simple 10 character password, Likewise, my AP is configured with the same 10 character password.  Somehow XCC is not setting the password properly. It got chopped to a 7 character password, which won't work at all since XCC requires at least an 8 characters.  You have no way of knowing what the real password ends up as unless you have a look at the UIC.  In the attached screen shot you will notice the password in is only 7 characters.  Of course, this is not going to work with my AP with a 10 character password, and it doesn't work when I shorten it to match the same 7 characters as seen in UIC,

I decided to put in the max of a  20 character password in XCC for the wireless.  Since I had no idea what would actually get pushed to the config file I took another peak at UIC.  Sure enough, UIC showed a password that was truncated to just a 10 character password, and it didn't just chop characters from the end but took 10 of them out of the middle.  You really have no idea what you are going to end up with unless you look in UIC.

A second example:

With the same configuration mentioned above, with the WiFi configured as a client and finally working, I set the BMC to bridge with the WiFi ports.  Sure enough, it does not work.  There is no bridging between the two, or perhaps the needed firewall rule changes are not being made.

I would ultimately like to manually configure UIC to make all the available ports set as uplink ports, but I need to trust that what is already in UIC is not messed up.
