SE350 with Wireless LOM and VMware

2020-07-06, 23:16 PM

I have for the life of me have been trying to get VMware to behave properly on this system.  I got ESXi installed but I am getting hung up on getting the Vcenter Server Appliance installed.  I'm not entirely sure that ESXi is installed correctly either.  This wireless LOM package is not easy to work with and is unpredictable.  There is very little guidance in the setup guide.  All you are given is 5 worthless network topology presets that are buggy and don't work properly.

Message to Lenovo - I think the SE350 should be de-listed from the VMware compatible and supported server list.  If the LOM package doesn't allow a proper ESXi install with Vcenter Server Appliance and there are not documented instructions on how to do it then this is just a very expensive brick that I shall be returning if I can't get some really basic support.

Hi cargostud,

Please download the custom ISO and follow the best recipe to update the appropriate firmware and drivers.

I'm going to go back to the beginning to see if I can get some resolution to the issues I am having with the LOM and the instructions in how UCI interacts with the LOM.
