I just ordered new Lenovo SR590 server (Model 7x99) . That was installed windows 2012 server R2 directly to physical . The performance on new SR590 ,during copy file, is very low ( internal to internal disk).
This server install RAID controller 530-8i ,
Senario : Copy file from internal disk to internal disk > 10 GB capacity (on Differenct Volume or Same Volome) , either RAID 10 or RAID 5. Throughput during copy around 5-20 MB/s -Write performance.
Once I asked Lenovo support there give us and update lestest firmware RAID controller and find new RAID controller , 930-8i. to test. It's still same result.
All compatibiilty was checked (OS version , Raid controller, Server model).
However , When I tested on other servers to compare , lower and older model (Lenovo X3550M5, HP DL380 G8) speed file copy is working properly, ( > 200 MB/s write speed).
There is no any software or application to be installed on server. Just only windows 2012 R2 server installed on Physical .
Any suggestions . Here is the list of equipment

We get the same behavior here with a SR530 with SSD, ATTO show speed below 100M/s at 16k so it is worse at 8k & 4k, while the server we are replacing, an old M4, is 5 time faster even with a degraded traditional disk array. The move to replace the old server doesnt feel right...

ThinkSystem RAID 530-8i is entry-level RAID adapter with no cache. 930-8i is high-performance RAID adapter with cache. I think the performance of copying file would be different with proper proper setting. The performance of 930-8i would be better than 530-8i.
Would you consider to provide detail information about RAID adapters (530-8i or 930-8i,... etc) you had tested including RAID firmware version, RAID driver version (and package name downloaded from Lenovo support website), RAID volume settings (write cache policy) for better understanding? Thanks a lot.

If it is a new array, maybe the initialization is running in the background and not complete while start writing data to the virtual drive, so the performance may seems slow. Also if the data that writing to the virtual drive are many many small files, the BW may not very high depending on the actual IOPS.

This case was solved by Lenovo support team. They recommened to changed RAID controller Model 530-8i to 930-8i . After replaced , it's working well. Performance was not droped and stability (although copy one bigger file or small files with more than 50 GB)
Noted : . 530-8i is entry level , I think to avoid this same issue , recommended at least model 930-8i up. Becuase it has cache bundle with RAID controller
Thank for reply
