SR630 Type 7X02 Intel PRO /1000 PT device cannot start code 10

Hello all,

 

we are trying to install a Intel PRO/1000 PT NIC. We bought the Lenovo SR630 7X02 Server and found out it had no ethernet port. So we bought the mentioned Intel NIC and a Lenovo riser (7XH7A05893).

 

Now, the NIC is recogniced in the Device-Manager of Windows Server 2016 (German) but in the status it says "device cannot start code 10"

 

Did we buy the wrong riser card or is the Intel NIC incompatible with the SR630 server?

 

When trying to uninstall the default driver windows installed when plugging the card in and trying to install a intel driver downloaded from Intel website, it says that there are no Intel adapters found.

 

Do you have any idea how to start the network card?

Hi JOSEF,

 

To my understanding, code 10 is almost always a driver issue. 

It seems like the Intel do not release the compatible driver for Windows Server 2016.

If you want to use the NIC card on SR630, I recommend installing the Windows Server 2012 R2 version.

thank you for your quick reply!

 

I see, can you recommend a NIC (preferable from Intel) which is compatible with Windows Server 2016 and newer versions? We want to use the newer versions of Windows Server and don't want to downgrade to the 2012 R2.

As you are a Lenovo Employee, which NIC do you normally use for your server?

So I've installed Windows Server 2012 R2 and we are having the same problems as with Windows Server 2016. What should we do now?

Could it be that we installed an incompatible riser card?

An incompatible riser card might cause the device recognized error issue.

I suggest that:

1. Choose the riser card options.
