SR630 hangs at UEFI: DXE INIT

2020-12-10, 5:54 AM

Hi All,

Thinksystem SR630 server hangs at UEFI:DXE INIT and its very inconsistent in nature.

When I connect RAID controller  sometimes booting stuck at UEFI: DXE INIT.

I have gone through https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht506118 and I could see option ROM settings are configured to auto in my system.

Rebooting few times does not solve the issue.

I have to remove RAID controller connected for system to boot again, then I connect controller back. Issue re appears after some time again.

Any help to resolve this issue.

Hello, what's the model and  part number of RAID controller? In some cases,  the error indicate the contoller is not properly recognized by XCC and sometimes incompatible controller was being used

Dears, Maybe you could do a mini-config test to isolate which part is blocking the POST. Then install back the parts one by one each time and check again till isolate the problem part. Hope it could help you. Karl

Hi Ravat,

I would recommend to perform CMOS clear. Turn off the system, move a J95 jumper on system board to pin2-pin3, wait 2-3 minutes, put it back to the original position pin1-2 then turn on the system.

System board jumpers:   https://thinksystem.lenovofiles.com/help/topic/7X01/system_board_jumpers.html?cp=4_6_5_6

If you still have the issue I would recommend to capture XCC service data and contact H/W support for further analysis.

Thank you,

I could not find the J95 jumper you mentioned on the board.

I am using ThinkSystem SR630. Can you please tell me the exact location of CMOS jumper on this machine type.

Thanks,

RB.

Hi,

Jumper location should be written on the top cover, and if not, removing CMOS battery for 5 minutes would be equivalent action. If those will not help to solve this issue, please contact hardware support for further investigation. Thank you,
