Seagate Exos drives in DE4000H?

2020-10-06, 19:47 PM

Hoping someone can answer a couple of questions for me.  My company recently purchased a DE4000H 4U60 and ordered 48 Seagate Exos hard drives for it.  When one of our techs started installing drives in the cabinet, he realized that there is no way to secure them in the drive trays.  He went ahead and plugged in some drives for testing purposes.  We powered it up and connected via the SAN Manager software and all we get is a message stating "Invalid Drive Format Detected" and telling us to call Lenovo.  Did that a few hours ago and still waiting for a call back.

So, is it even possible to run non-Lenovo drives in these units?  If so, what do we need to make that happen?

Dear, We always suggest to install the supported drives. We don't know what will happen if non-supported drives were installed Since the HDD info is few, we suggest you check following web to see if your drives are supported: https://lenovopress.com/lp0882-lenovo-thinksystem-de4000h-hybrid-storage-array#drives https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/au/en/products/storage/lenovo-storage/thinksystem-de4000h/parts/search Thanks.
