ThinkSystem SR630 Sensor SysBrd Vol Fault

2021-01-02, 16:01 PM

Hello everyone,

About a month ago I got a new ThinkSystem SR630 server (model 7X02CTO1WW). First problem with it was that it was sold to me without a network card which I only realised after I got help from this forum.  I installed a 7ZT7A00545 LOM adapter and a network connection was established.

Now I have a new and very unexpected problem. Yesterday evening the served powered off suddenly and when I today started it again, it stayed on only 30 minutes or so and powered off again. Now it won't power on at all. I logged into XCC through the XCC port and found out that there is a system error:

Sensor SySBrd Vol Fault has transitioned to critical from a less severe state

I found some links that this error could be due to old XCC version but do you think this is more likely due to faulty system board? And can you update XCC through XCC itself or do I need special tool for that?

ThinkSystem SR630 Sensor SysBrd Vol Fault

Update to this: I updated XCC to the latest version, cleared CMOS, took the power supply out but it was no use. When I put the power back on, the power button blinks slow as it should but almost instantly after pressing it, system error led lights up and the same 'Sensor SysBrd Vol Fault' can be found from XCC log. I guess the board is faulty and it is time to call maintenance.

Dears,

Sorry, I just viewed your post...

Yes, you are right, by my experience, your system board might be fault and need to be replaced. Your action confirmed this.

If there is FFDC log provided, we could look into further to understand the fault more details.

You can update XCC from the XCC GUI web.

Good luck!

Karl
