Re:XClarityController web interface on ST550

I missed what you said about the LXCC not needing to be on the network. There is a way to do this using the LAN over USB feature but I believe this is turned off by default. What operating system is running on the server? The LAN over USB allows you to connect to the BMC through an internal connection. This internal interface is configured with a 169.254.95.118, by default. Depending on the operating system this interface is enabled by default.

This helped me too

Once link-local USB ethernet is enabled in OS, the XCC can be opened on https://169.254.95.118

User password could only be reset using reset BMC configuration. Could not do this with ipmitool.

If the network settings are left as 0.0.0.0 / DHCP, does this mean the XCC can be accessed from external address?

Changing the network settings (e.g. setting a static IP address to 169.254.95.118 or some other address) rendered XCC unaccessible via web.

Hello Zals Gurkis,

Glad you were able to get into LXCC and thanks for marking my post as the solution.

To answer your question about the LXCC network address. The 169 address is tied to a different interface than the one you configure with DHCP. Whatever address you put into the network settings will need to follow your network setup and use the dedicated LXCC port in the back (or the shared port option). The 169 address on the LXCC interface cannot be changed. It is a default IP address, this IP address is only used to communicate between the Bare-metal OS and LXCC.
