Re: Client Security Solution and Word 2007

I have one question about this patch, maybe I can figure it out for myself... but if any lenovo admins know the answer I would really appreciate it.

I installed the new Microsoft Office 2010 beta over my old copy of 2007. I am very please with it so far, I think it is a major improvement. Since installing the new MS Office I haven't checked to see if there is still a bug when CSS hotkeys are enabled... My guess is that it would be, since this patch is for Lenovo software and not MS.

Can you verify that this patch will address the compatibility issue between MS Office 2010 and CSS 8.3, if there is any?

Thank you.

Hi All,

oscar9, you're really fast! I was about to post about the new patch. Sorry for my delay. So i'll re-post again as procedure even though oscar9 has posted earlier :)

Here's the link

Patch to fix compatibility issue between Client Security Solution 8.3 and Microsoft Office 2007 - Windows 7 32bit and 64bit

Please take note before installing:
Note: The fix only applies to Password Manager 3.20.0320.00, version lower or higher than 3.20.0320.00 DO NOT Need to install this patch

In regard to the Microsoft Office 2010 beta, i'll need to check with development team again. However, based on the patch title, it seems that only tested with MS 2007 since that was the main issue reported by the forum members.

the fix should be able to fix it if the same issue happens. However, I would like to convey the idea that in general, we do not support beta version of software until it's fully released. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Cleo

I guess I was just checking out the updates at the right time :smileywink:  I was just lucky I guess, but thanks Cleo!

Thanks for checking up on that matter for me btw! I will give the patch a whirl with MS Office 2010 and post my results ASAP (probably tomorrow).

Take care,

Oscar9

UPDATE:  I am using CSS 3.20.0320.00 for Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and MS Office 2010 (beta)

After patching CSS last night I enabled the hotkey feature and have been using both MS Word and MS Outlook without any problems. Although it has only been one day, I believe that the patch is universal... so those of you out there who are trying out the beta Office 2010 go ahead and use the patch! Thanks Lenovo!

I have the same problem with Word 2003.  Am still saving up for Word 2010.  Can someone help in the mean time?

02-08-10 No need anymore.  Found if I untick the hotkey funktion in the Password Manager it goes way (still had to delete the entry in the registry though).  Since I am not interested in the hotkey function .....

Re: Client Security Solution and Word 2007

Sorry for joining this conversation so late.

I have T61 Windows 7 64bit and my Password Manager in CSS 8.3 is greyed out.  I have MS Office 2007 but have never had any issues with it.  I used the password manager in vista and loved it and would like to have it back in W7.  I tried alot of troubleshooting when I installed W7 in October but left it alone and am now trying once again to get it to activate.

Now with using one of the posters quickfix, I was able to get the Password Manager to run enough to get to the preferences and de-select the hotkey.  I then could get the program to run but had to enter my windows password as when i scanned my fingerprint, it said no finger prints were enrolled.  This is wrong because I scan my fingerprint everytime I log on.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Client Security Solution and Word 2007

2010-12-23, 21:41 PM

I purchased my system June 16, 2009 with Vista downgraded to XP Pro so I was not able to purchase a upgrade disk from Lenovo. This week I purchased the Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium upgrade package at a local store.

I did the upgrade (clean install) Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium on my ThinkPad T400 type 2764-CTO. Also successfully installed all Win 7 64 bit ThinkVantage software with System Update 4.

Then I Installed manually z909zis1032us00.exe Client Security Solution 8.3 for Windows 7 (64-bit only) Version: 8.30.0032.00 Note: When upgrading from Windows XP To use TPM with Win 7 erase TPM in the BIOS configuration utility. In the Security and Security Chip menu, locate the option to clear the security device referred to as Security Chip and clear. If not done you can install but not use the program.

I had the same issue with Client Security - Password Manager version 8.30.00.32.00 and Office 2010. This was before I spotted this tread.

Because I dint know what to do, I deactivated the TPM in Client Security and it solve the problem in Word & Outlook.

On the following System Update at the Lenovo site the system pick  up something was wrong with Client Security (it did not when the TPM was activated???) and offered to download and install "Client Security Solution Office 2007 Patch 64bit". I did and following installation I re activated the TPM. The problem in Word & Outlook was no longer there.

Then on the next system update the system offered to download and install "Patch for IE crash with Password Manager (Win7) version 1.0". I had not experience that problem but downloaded and let the system install it anyway.

So the problem is not restricted to version 8. 3.20.0320.00. Because the patch was automatically downloaded fron the web site (Client Security Solution Office 2007 Patch 64bit)  I do not know if it is the same one.

I hope this can help other people having the same problem.

Claude
