ThinkVantage System Update 4 connecting over RDP closes after splash screen (Win 7)

Question

ThinkVantage System Update 4 connecting over RDP closes after splash screen (Win 7). It works fine when its not connecting over RDP.

Answer

Follow steps provided below to set TVSU to run the program compatibility mode for Windows XP (SP 3)

 

  1. Click Start
  2. Search Run
  3. In Run paste the following - Depending on your Windows 7 32bit or 64bit
  4. %programfiles%\Lenovo\System Update                 ----> (Win 7 x86)
  5. %Programfiles%x86\Lenovo\System Update           -----> (Win 7 x64)
  6. Right click on TVSU.exe, select Properties
  7. Select Compatibility tab
  8. Tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for"
  9. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
  10. Press Ok
  11. Done.
