[ Edited ]
When I try to run this I get the error message "ia.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" then it closes down.

Do you have IE7 installed? If so, I would suggest you to update the RnR to the latest version as it has some issues with IE7.

Hello,

please uninstall Zone Alarm and get your Windows in a normal Condition.

Disable all customized featuere like blinds or themes and disable all Antivirus.

I'm running IE 6.0, should I upgrade to another version of IE.  If so then which one?

I have done a complete fresh install of XP. I've even deleted the IBM Preload partition but I'm still getting this. I have no firewall or anti virus running.

Re: ThinkVantage System 3 update crashes on X40

It's probably worth noting that I am also constantly getting a BSOD (blue screen of death) error.

*** STOP: 0x0000007F (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Hey, do you still get this 0x0000007f error? I have the same problem and it's pretty annoying.

Re: ThinkVantage System 3 update crashes on ...

for the error message: "ia.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close"

exit System Update

Rename IA.exe.config to IA.exe.config.old

restart System Update

Thanks renaming the "ia.exe.config" seemed to work for me.

Re: ThinkVantage System 3 update crashes on ...

Found this thread in a google search, and worked on a brand new out of the box thinkcenter as well.

Thanks!
