Are X1 Yoga 3rd gen and X1 Carbon Gen 6 Ubuntu Linux compatible?

I keep getting conflicting information on the internet. Are these two laptops compatible with Ubuntu Linux?

What is whitelist? I recall somebody here mentioning that X1C6 is not recommended if I want to install Linux. However, I have seen posts on the internet about people running Linux on it.

I want to have a dual boot (Windows 10, Ubuntu Linux) machine.

Re: Are X1 Yoga 3rd gen and X1 Carbon Gen 6 Ubuntu Linux compatible?

Not sure on the X1 Carbon Gen 6, but I dualboot (only out of necessity) Windows 10 and Debian 9 stable XFCE-desktop on my X1 yoga Gen 3. I assume Ubuntu (Debian Fork) would work but haven't tried on this machine

In general I have been able to get Linux (Debian6-9, Ubuntu 7-16, Xubuntu 12-14) working on Thinkpads with little effort, I have run Linux on Ideapads but with they require some extra effort.
