2017-09-20, 10:09 AM

I bought an ideapad 320 and installed Ubuntu

# Linux silverolw 4.10.0-35-generic #39~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 13 09:02:42 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

However, the touchpad doen't work, as well as, the wireless connection works just for few minutes.

Re: Ideapad 320 touchpad and wireless doesn't works on Ubuntu

Hi friend... I have solved the issue. First to solves the touchpad problem I need to upgrade my kernel to 4.13.4, I have make it using the "sudo ukuu --install v4.13.4", next reboot the touchpad works... After that i saw that my wireless doesn't works well, so I do that:

1 - check if your wireless adapter is that one: "Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8821AE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter", use this command: lspci | grep Wireless

2 - sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic build-essential git

3 - git clone http://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new.git

4 - cd rtlwifi_new

5 - make

6 - sudo make install

7 - sudo modprobe rtl8821ae

8 - reboot your system

9 - Enjoy =D

Sorry my poor english lol :)

Connect your laptop using lan cable to router sit near router and do the following for Ubuntu on ideapad.

checkversion of your touchpad using CTRL + ALT + T ( opens terminal) and type lspci -nnk

For Touchpad update your Kernel of ubuntu to latest one using ukuu

https://phoenixnap.com/kb/how-to-update-kernel-ubuntu

For Wifi issue

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1071299/how-to-install-wi-fi-driver-for-realtek-rtl8821ce-on-ubuntu-18-04

for above make sure your wifi version is also realtek and 8821ce by using lspci in terminal.

You may get into errors like git not installed just google to find git and get over that error. Google for each error and then you will be able to follow steps in above links to successfully make your touchpad and wifi work on Lenovo Ideapad
