Have installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS but cannot find drivers for the laptop.
Facing these issue :

- Battery is discharging very fast.
- Cannot change the brightness for the screen

Kindly help to resolve these issues. Any solution would be very helpful.

Re: Lenovo G505s laptop Ubuntu Graphical driver support

In the Yoga 13 thread there is this about brightness, maybe it is of help to you too.

2- BRIGHTNESS PROBLEM  to make Brightness adjustment work you have to just do;

    -in terminal write

       sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

-Add the acpi_backlight=vendor to your grub default command line  (GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="acpi_backlight=vendor"

    -Run the update-grub command

    -and again in terminal

       sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

-blacklist the ideapad_laptop by adding "blacklist ideapad_laptop"  (just add it at the beginning)

   -Reboot

Re: Lenovo G505s laptop Ubuntu Graphical driver support

you  might want to run something newer than 12.04, the kernel version in 12.04 (3.2) doesn't have support for that processor yet, you might want to install 13.10 as it has the 3.11 kernel (which recieved a LOT of patches from AMD, some specifically supporting this chipset)

Re: Lenovo G505s laptop Ubuntu Graphical driver support

Actually - I did not solve this problem on G505s laptop - But - I had a similar problem with my AMD nVidia630 chipset board using ubuntu 18 .

I booted using the boot image of ubuntu -- no wifi .

So -- I rebooted  after connecting physical LAN cable (cat 5) from desktop  to Wifi router (dlink dir 816 model) .  I could connect to internet.

Then -- I  attempted to connect to wiFi -- / updated drivers  using  GUI app present there in ubuntu desktop.

After reboot -- i could connect to wifi w/o  LAN cable  from my desktop.
