Re: Linux compatibility with Yoga C930

Yes - everything works up to a point.  The sleep issue is a day to day DEALBREAKER.  My muscle memory is to close my laptop and throw it in my bag.  I pull it out 5 hours later and it's HOT b/c Lenovo can't be bothered to give us an update.

I've attached my bluetooth speakers in my office to it so the speaker is less of an issue (same with headsets - works just fine).

Wireless is fixed.

Fingerprint probably will never be.

Other than that - it's not too bad with Pop.  Come on Lenovo - give us a roadmap.

Re: Linux compatibility with Yoga C930

Thanks. By wireless is fixed, do you mean after installation, we have to execute a command as somebody posted or it is now working out of the box?

How is the wifi module in the Yoga C930? Under Windows 10, it is OK so far. Is there a better one that is faster and reliable. In addition, compatible to both Windows 10, Linux and perhaps also Hackintosh?

Re: Linux compatibility with Yoga C930

The wireless is fixed in the latest kernel. You don't have to disable the laptop kernel module. Under Linux, it seems to be perform properly, although there have been reports that wifi performance is slower than on Windows. I am not sure that's the case for me.

Re: Linux compatibility with Yoga C930

Thanks. Which kernel is that? When I checked a month ago, Pop!_OS was a step behind Ubuntu.

Re: Linux compatibility with Yoga C930

It was fixed as of 5.1 and above.

I think Pop is now on the 5.1 series but I'm running 5.2 already - I update kernels as they come out because I'm stupid.

Re: Linux compatibility with Yoga C930

There is a utility that can make it easier for you. Ukuu. Look it up if swapping kernels is challenging.

Re: Linux compatibility with Yoga C930

That's what I use.  Just sometimes get oddities that I report upstream.  Sometimes I think I'd just rather be on the stable distribution branch.  I just can change back since I always have that one loaded in GRUB.

Re: Linux compatibility with Yoga C930

Thanks. Utility for Ubuntu or Pop OS?

From Pop OS website, it looks like their latest version 19.04 is still using Kernel 5.0.

Re: Linux compatibility with Yoga C930

They are both debian-based. It will work on both. It doesn't matter what kernel you're running.

Re: Linux compatibility with Yoga C930

Anyone having issues with kernel 5.1.7? The 5.1 series appears to break brightness control. I can't get it to work.
