Re:Linux on Ideapad D330

Hi, is anyone here still active? I have a low-res version of this device and I still have issues with screen turned by 90 degrees and no available suspend on Linux. I've tried everything here on this forum, but with no avail. Are there any new ideas on how to launch Linux properly on this device?

I am using a standard Ubuntu 20.04 and it works surprisingly good!

Rotation works out of the box IIRC. If not, I might have needed to do a small settings change, but no hack.

The only thing that makes me throuble is the keybord. Sometimes it stops to work properly, meaning the CTRL-key sticks or some letters do not work anymore. I am confident that it is a software issue, but couldnt solve this yet. When it happens, usually the touchPAD also dos not respond anymore, but the touchSCREEN unually is fine. I think it mostly occurs after resume from suspend.

Can you please show me the configs you've changed? Everything I've tried results with either black screen during boot or wrong screen orientation.

On the HD model pop OS and Fedora work right out of the box. Touchscreen doesnt work with kernel 5.7 and higher.

On my Ideapad autorotation is borked on 5.8, as well as the touchscreen. At least I can turn my screen with proper orientation, but touchscreen is a feature I'd wanted to have, since I use my tablet without the keyboard for a lot of things really.

I also have an issue where my tablet refuses to output anything to display (it doesn't freeze though)

It persists on both 5.4 and 5.9

Yeah with the 5.6 kernel everything works fine for me, with 5.7 the error "Goodix-TS: probe of i2c-GDIX1002:00 failed with error -22" appears.

There is also an bug report:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209061

With 5.9 the situation is the same, autorotation and the touchscreen doesn't work. Hopefully the problems will be fixed one day, besides that I am quite happy with the tablet and Kernel 5.6.
