T/P/X1 Carbon series compatibility with eGPU (Ubuntu Linux) and Caldigit Thunderbolt 3 Plus

Hello, I am considerng the T480, T480s, T580, P52S and CarbonX1 Gen 6.

Any users of the above models use eGPU and Nvidia GPU under Ubuntu Linux? Does it work well?

As for the dock, anybody use the Caldigit Thunderbolt 3 Plus? How is it compared with Thinkpad's dock?

Re: T/P/X1 Carbon series compatibility with eGPU (Ubuntu Linux) and Caldigit Thunderbolt 3 Plus

Dear customer,

Because ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th supports modern standby system, doesn't support legacy s3 state ( suspend to RAM ).

It seems current linux is struggling to support modern stanby, I don't recommend you to use X1 Carbon 6th with the current linux.  Refer to this discussion thread for your reference.

Thanks for the warning. How about T480 or T480s?

Dear customer,

T480 and T480s are legacy S3 support systems.
