I am on Arch Linux and I was able to make it work, you should be able to follow the instructions also on Debian, they do not look arch-linux specific

Sorry for question: Did you also manage to get the speakers working? I switched to Arch from Mint and could get sound at all..tried for days..went back to Mint until I can figure it out. Cheers

EDIT: Just had a good read through the Arch link for the fix and it looks promising, right at the end of thread, the last two posts explain the fix.

Cheers

I followed the instruction given here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1868200#p1868200 and it worked for me.

It works on Ubuntu 20.04, I've tried with a daily build. But I think final version will be available in a month.

Microphone works on ubuntu 19.10 after updating the kernel to version 5.5.

After updating the kernel, add this line to the end of the /etc/pulse/default.pa file:

load-module module-alsa-source device = hw: 0.7

@ coilwinder That's some good news! Does it work out of the box with just this line? Or do you have the sof-firmware installed?

Also, is the sound also fully fixed out of the box with 5.5? (As in, did you need to do something for the either loud/off sound setting?)

Thanks!

I've just went through upgrade to Kernel 5.5.3-050503-generic and it blew all the sound drivers. On 5.3.0 at least external mic and audio were recognized. Plan to try this method next - https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1868200#p1868200
