Ubuntu on Ideapad u400?

I've installed Ubuntu (12.10 64bit) using wubi on my ideapad u400. There's been some issues with overheating, which I thought was due to the switchable graphics. I've been using the 'vgaswitcheroo' workaround, but I'm still having some heat issues, random crashes, and the internet seems slower and laggy. What I'm wondering is, could I expect Ubuntu to run better if I wiped my harddrive and installed this as a standalone OS, instead of within Windows 7? Has anyone had any success with Ubuntu on this model (u400)? Thanks.

Re: Ubuntu on Ideapad u400?

Just an update for anyone else who might be interested. I shrunk my C:\ drive, deleted the OKR partition, and created a new partition for Ubuntu as a true dual boot instead of the wubi setup. It's working fine so far with the vgaswitcheroo fix. I also disabled the automatic report sending and turned of the accelerated graphics setting in Firefox. Seems like this did the trick.
