According to WubiGuide (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide) wubi will not work with Windows 8 or UEFI bios.

I have the normal 12.04 installed and it works fine except there is a slow booting bug (15 minutes) after latest upgrades unless you run with battery removed.

To install, I went into bios and toggled the UEFI setting and then toggled the new setting that appears under it once toggled.  I have to "untoggle" it to boot Windows again.  But that is easy to do since the small button next to the power button makes it easy to get to bios settings.  There may be more correct approaches to dealing with UEFI but once I got what I wanted I left it alone.

Hi tom580,

FWIW, Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit will install (not Wubi, bare-metal install) and boot in UEFI mode.  Even with secure boot enabled.

At least in my testing on a Twist.  Dual booting Win 8 and Ubuntu.
