Just to chime in - I have the exact same problem. My laptop randomly wakes up in my bag and sometimes never sleeps - this has led to countless times where I've reached work with my laptop already down to 80% after unplugging from a full charge at home. Si03 Modern Standby is a terrible implementation of a nice idea and I don't want it. Lenovo, please fix this and give X1Y3 the classic S3 standby.

The other issue of CPU throttling of X1Y Gen 3, which surfaced months later in December, has been recently addressed with a BIOS update. This means Lenovo engineers read the forum, and they can respond with corrective actions if they wish to. Given that Lenovo has been very quiet about this issue, I doubt they even have a plan.

I gave up waiting for a fix and purchased a Dell XPS. I've been using it heavily for 2 months now and it works flawlessly with Fedora Workstation, along with everything else I tried on it. Even the Thinkpad TB3 dock works well with it. I can at least still recommend that Lenovo product.

After the most recent BIOS update (1.29) did not include S3 support, I decided to buy a new laptop. After nearly a year, it seems very unlikely to me that Lenovo will ever respond to this thread let alone provide a BIOS update with S3 support.
X1YG3 = Frustrating waste of money

Not only for Linux Users, Windows user also need S3. Si03 sucks!
I'm really afraid to buy a 2019 Model (X1CarbonG7), since up to now, I did not found any information if the new laptops support S3.
