ati3duag.dll Blue screen of death

2008-11-08, 2:49 AM

Hi all.  I have a w500 which I recently installed Total 3D Home & Landscape version 7 on.  When I go to run the program, It will run but shortly after using, my computer will blue screen with an error that states: ati3duag.dll  I am not sure what this means or how to fix this.  Here is what I have done so far:

I am running xp

Update windows

Update graphics drivers

Update directx

install all patches for program

I was wondering if anyone knew what would cause this problem and if anyone knew how to fix it.  If it is that this program is too old then that is fine however it was designed for xp so I'm not sure that that is the case.  In the next week or so I would like to install pro engineer which is a graphic intensive program.  I just want to make sure that everything is ok with my computer before I do so, so that I will not have similar problems.

Thank you for any help,

Wozz

This seems a gfx driver issue but it can also be a problem with ati-drivers and your specific program.

I would suggest to install Lenovo gfx drivers, if you had installed other Ati-drivers recently.

I haven't had this problem since I updated my Bios. Which version are you on?

1.18 here with the latest drivers from the Lenovo update tool.

I have the latest bios update.  I believe that it is 1.19.  It just came out yesterday.

I am still having the same problem.  Interesting tho: I ran the program for 5 min after the updates with no problems, then it started to crash.  Before it would crash right away.  However now it is back to crashing right away.

I also have the latest graphics drivers.

Any other suggestions?

thanks

We were struggling with almost the same problem (BSOD ati2dvag.dll on W500 using WinXP Pro SP2, x86) here just to find out that we have caused the problem ourselves.

We had added additional 2GB (4GB RAM total) to our W500 and had activated the famous but unsupported Microsoft /3GB switch in boot.ini when all of our BSOD problems began.

After hours of troubleshooting (updating BIOS, seraching for other graphic driver versions, googling around) we removed the /3GB switch from boot.ini just to find out that after a reboot the system worked just fine without any BSODs.

If you have modified your WinXP system start settings by adding the /3GB switch, try remove that and see if the problem is resolved.

Thanks Marty

However I have not modified the start system.  To be honest, I don't even know what that means.

I get the problem when Windows boot and I have a VGA projector plugged in and get windows version of the Display Manager. It then locks the CCC display manager and causes lockups for CCC and blue screens after use.
