Error code 0xc000021a when installing WIndows 10 on a new Lenovo IdeaPad S145

2019-09-27, 4:39 AM

I just bought a brand new Lenovo laptop (IdeaPad S145, Core I5, 8 GB Ram) which came without Windows preinstalled, just with FeeDOS.

I also bought a new WIndows 10 Home that came in a USB drive.

When I boot the laptop,  I get a "Windows Boot Manager" screen asking me to choose 32 or 64 bit Windows system.

Then WINdows loads some files, reboots, and then one of two scenarios happens:
Either the laptop is stuck with the Lenovo splash screen, or (after a few seconds) I get the "Your PC Ran  Into Problems wand needs to restart "blue screen saying I have stop code 0xc000021a .

I tried testing memory with the Boot Manager's Memory  Diagnostics, tried to boot into Windows Safe mode etc without success.

Any ideas how can I install Windows on this new laptop?

Hey there, NirNat!

Welcome to the Lenovo Forum!

Kindly try doing a clean installation of the Windows 10 OS and you follow the steps here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10startfresh. You may need to download the Windows 10 ISO file here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and use it to re-install the Windows 10 OS on the laptop. Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Hello,

I am not familiar with the IdeaPad S145, but from looking at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check-0xc000021a--status-system-process-terminated this could be a result of mis-matched operating system files.

I would suggest that you try wiping the laptop's internal drive and then try re-installing Windows 10 Home 64-bit edition.  If the problem continues, download a fresh copy of Windows 10 direct from Microsoft (as  suggested) to a blank USB flash drive (it needs to be 8GB or larger) and see if that installs.  You would use the product license ID key from the copy of Windows 10 Home that you already purchased to activate it.

Absolutely stuck with this,  should I return the laptop.
