Thank you for the detailed instructions.  Unfortunately I ended with the same results.  All of the drivers updated without issue except for one.  The graphics driver I had to extract from the exe and install manually.  The EXE would not install because I had a manufacturers driver installed.  Manual installation worked.  Then I tried to install from ISO, but had the exact same results I was having before (stuck at 77% for a long time and if I leave for a while, I come back to a black screen).  Hopefully, at least, the flashing issue is gone.  Any thoughts on how to get this update installed?  Thank you, Andy

Hi alambrec,

You will find a broad discussion and how to handle all steps in THIS TOPIC
My suggestion is to use DDU - Display Driver Uninstaller to install Intel's VGA driver.

Hi NikolaiNL,

Lenovo Vantage could be installed but doesn't provide any driver update for Y2P model.

Re:HOW TO install Windows 10 FALL CREATORS UPDATE on Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (20266 / 80AY) - Setup Guide

I have four yoga 2 pro's in the household. Best laptop I've ever had. I've tried 3 different newer Yogas (Yoga 3 pro, Yoga 900, and Yoga C940) and still go back to the yoga 2 pro as it is a better overall design.

I use 2 of them and my kids have 2 more. Some were purchased new but most were acquired on eBay. Running Windows 8.1 I have found all them to be rock solid for stability in and out of hibernation or standby and no problems of any kind for day to day use. I found the touchpad behaves the same on all of them running windows 8.1. It is not a great touchpad but in windows 8.1 it is OK. A couple of them have problems with the wifi card after going in and out of hibernate or standby 60 + times so they need a reboot about once a month. The way I use my primary laptop it is mobile for 6+ hours a day 7 days a week. Used on battery a bit and on power cord a bit and on AC power in the car. They are in and out of hibernate anywhere from 1 to 6 times a day. Occasionally I've left one in the car in winter in -20C for hours. The battery isn't happy, but they work fine. They see use from 4 to 20 hours a day. They do wear out eventually but it takes a lot of use or abuse to get there. My first one was from 2013 and I retired (and replaced it with another yoga2pro) it in 2018 after the display started getting glitchy.

I have attempted Windows 10 on a few of them several times now. The first was an auto upgrade from Win 8.1 -> Win 10 years ago back when Microsoft was offering their limited time free upgrade to Windows 10. It was awful. My yoga would lock up for no reason all the time, the trackpad went from being merely ok to barely usable. I rolled back after a day or two and didn't try again for a couple years. When I did it next it was a clean install of Win 10 on 2 of them. Very similar results. frequent lock ups per day, hit or miss coming out of standby or hibernation,  poor responsiveness and tracking on the touchpad. I reloaded them with Win 8.1 and they are great again. Two that were purchased on ebay (one in 2018 and on in 2019) came loaded with Win 10. Tried them briefly before realizing whatever it is about the yoga 2 pro and Windows 10 still hasn't been fixed. It is just a bad combo.

If you have upgraded or installed Win 10 on a Yoga 2 Pro I'd recommend putting it back to Windows 8.1 so you can enjoy using that computer again. I run Windows 10 on all my desktops and most of of my clients systems but on the Yoga 2 Pro it just doesn't work right.

FYI the one necessary fix to make Windows 8.1 a really good OS is to install classic shell to get rid of that awful Win 8 start menu system.
