Re: Missing Task Bar in Windows Help!

Hi Sheilarae12,

It is a few possibilities:

It’s hiding

Press CTRL+ESC. If your taskbar magically reappears, then it’s probably simply been resized too small, repositioned somewhere you didn’t expect it, or perhaps it’s beneath another application that’s running full-screen on your computer.

The workaround? Press CTRL+ESC to access the taskbar.

It’s not running

If CTRL+ESC didn’t make it come back, then the program that displays the task bar most likely isn’t running. That program is often called the “Windows Shell,” but it’s really “explorer.exe.” It’s the program that not only displays the taskbar, but also responds to the CTRL+ESC sequence.

The workaround: press CTRL+ALT+DEL and select Start Task Manager:

In Task Manager on the File menu, select New Task (Run…). Type in “explorer” and press OK.

That should restart explorer and re-display your taskbar.

Hi

In this case maybe your explorer file should repair so, do the following steps.

1- Copy explorer.exe from other clean computer (from C:\WINDOWS)
2- In your computer go to C:\WINDOWS
3- Show hidden files from (Tools - Folder Options - View - Show hidden files and folders)
4- Delete explorer.exe and any other files start with explorer...
5- Put the new file (explorer.exe)
6- log off or restart
7- log on

You are done,

Hi Sheilarae12

Just to clarify, your original post is in the Windows 10 forum, so it is assumed this is regarding Windows 10. If you are running a different version of Windows please let us know so this can be moved to the appropriate forum.

If troubleshooting procedures posted above by CompTIA do not help, you might try running System Restore and selecting a Restore Point prior to when the taskbar disappeared.
