Lenovo Yoga 2 13 won't shut down Windows 10

2015-08-11, 14:57 PM

Hi there,

I'm opening this thread for everyone having difficulties with shuting down/sleep mode on Lenovo Yoga 2 13, there is a conversation about this on this thread:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-10/Yoga-2-13-laptop-Windows-10-issues/td-p/2128415/page/5

Basically what we have established that after the upgrade to windoows 10 (from MS w 8.1), laptop wont shut down or enter the sleep mode, the following solution been given but no result:

a) reinstall the Intel HD graphics driver/software, still the same issue

b)unninstall Lenovo Energy Manager (if exists) and leave the windows 10 default, still the same issue

C)Amy from Lenovo kindly given us a driver Energy Manager and Flight Mode Driver but its not suitable for Yoga 2 13, still the same issue

d) similar issues are happening on HP machines as well

We've got to the point that most of us is not shutting down their laptop properly for 2 week now so its time that Lenovo will TRY to find solution for this please.

For all of You having the same issues please use this post

Yes, I tried all the same with the same result: shut down/hibernate/standby that only works about 10% of the time. Frustrating that testing wasn't done properly at MS and Lenovo.

I don't think this is a Lenovo issue myself (I have it too), it's either going to be an Intel Driver issue or a Windows 10 issue.

Same problem here. I did a clean install of Windows 10 on my Yoga 2 13 and installed the Windows 10 drivers from Lenovo's Website. Still no energy management driver for Windows 10 available.

The device hangs often when trying to enter standby mode. The display is black, but power light is on and keyboard enlightened. Fans keep spinning. No visible reaction when pressing a key or mouse button.

The notebook does not wake up from this state until I press the power key for a long time to do a hard reset.

Lenovo / Intel / Microsoft, please resolve this problem as soon as possible.

I've just turned off Hybrid Shutdown to see if that makes a difference. Anyone tried this?

Hi SteveU,

Many things been tried (read the original post) - hybrid shutdown, intel drivers, uninstalling and installing again Lenovo Energy Managment driver (win 8.1 one), trying to use the Windows10 default driver for Energy management, shutting down with holding the shift (or alt button) can't remember now, many many things and clearly this is a Micorosft issue + Lenovo. Not enough testing down before hand, but everyone is happy at Lenovo as our money is at their bank... and have got expensive bit of kit that we shut-down holding down the button - because is just better than pressing shut-down...

This is the second time I'm let down by Lenovo - was thinking will give them another chance but as you can see moderators viewing or post but none of them has got a solution :):) - isn't that right Amy@Lenovo or Majestic

Clearly Ms and Lenovo will blame each other now.

Fed up with this...

Windows 8.1 is the way to go, don't know why I was hoping that the latest MS updates will sort the issue out - wrong again
At least the Mail app works fine now :):)

Yes, just to confirm my Yoga is still the same with Hybrid shutdown disabled.

It has got worse these past few days and refuses to shut down more often than not. Seems to be worse when it's plugged in and charging though for some reason?
