Re:Lenovo devices tested for Windows 10 version 2004 (May, 2020)

Thanks for that instant and very interesting reply. So does this mean that I shall have this problem with all upcoming Windows 10 updates or have I got to think about changing my PC if its not compatible.

Thanks again

I have contacted Tech today and as my PC is over 5yrs old they can't support system, updates and software. What a shame only after 5yrs of light use thou like to keep everything in tip top condition.

That is a shame, but I can relate. It's that way with all technology -- phones, watches, etc. etc.. New software is great, but old hardware just can't keep up.

Don't give up completely on you computer. Maybe Microsoft will find a driver for you somewhere and send you the update to surprise you..

Re:Lenovo devices tested for Windows 10 version 2004 (May, 2020)

I work for Data Doctors Computer Services and have 5 Ideapad 320 15ABR that after updating to 2004 now on boot they are getting colored lines that fill the screen.  Sometimes I can see the cursor but have to hard power it off and then it may work or I have to hard power it off again.  It also happens when I close the lid which puts the laptop to sleep.  I was able to rollback 1 of them to 1909 and it doesn't happen on that one anymore.  Any info or issues that anyone knows of?

Thanks,

Scott

Hello,

It appears that the model tested ok by Lenovo for the 2004 update.  It might be a good idea to report the details via the Windows 10 Feedback Hub so that the engineers can address the problem in case it turns out to be an issue with that particular update.

It does give any plans for the next windows build - version 2009?

That generally does not happen until there is a release to the public.

I have a ThinkPad E580. It is on Lenovo's list of tested devices. After 5 month it still impossible to update Windows 10 to the 2004 version. An incompatible Conexant SmartAudio HD driver is preventing it.

Lenovo's test-list qualifies the E580 as updatable for the Windows 2004 update. It states furthermore that the necessary drivers are available. But that's not true; a compatible Conexant SmartAudio HD driver is not available for the E580 on Lenovo's update site. That is strange because for other laptops there are compatible update Conexant SmartAudio HD drivers available, e.g. the ThinkPad E560p.

Is this a omission from Lenovo or is something else going on? See also my other post about this issue.

Major update bug on C940 machines (and other) with the 2004 update. Might be an smaller KB update that messes with the machine.

The problem is major errors/glitches/flickering in apps that uses hardware acceleration.

please check this thread on reddit that goes more indepth on the problem.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/irj6zo/is_anyone_else_having_this_issue_on_their/

might be KB4566782 or KB4568831

please stick to 1909 untill this one is sorted on your C940 machines (and other) . And yes i had this problem on 2004 after a late kb update. Reverting back to 1909 fixed it. And yes upp to date with latest drivers and also tried with older ones.

@Bertil78

Thank you for the advice!

Still it is strange that the machines are on Lenovo's tested-list while there are all sort of troubles with Windows 10 2004.
