Re: Power Manager for Windows 10?

After upgrading to Win10 none of the utility buttons on a ideapad Z560 worked.  Somehow, maybe after installing some of the Win10 updates they're now working.  Battery Power Manager included.

However, most of the other Lenovo utility apps still rendered non-opperational.  OneKey etc.....

Sorry but I don't understand this. You say that in windows 10 my Y50-70 will detect according to use the maximum charge?

Internal circuit of a Li-ion battery is designed to stop charging once the battery is fully charged. That is an industry standard for Li-ion batteries.

Re: Power Manager for Windows 10?

Yes, of course but it's better keep charge in 60%, isn't? In Windows 8.1 with PM you could stop charching in 60%

Re: Power Manager for Windows 10?

I'm not sure if keeping the battery at 60 % or 80 % makes any changes in terms of battery longevity. In my experience it doesn't matter.

Re: Power Manager for Windows 10?

Well, I am not sure neither but in PM for W8.1 there is an option "conservation mode" telling that 50-60% is better for battery health

Re: Power Manager for Windows 10?

@Hamlet if you are using your laptop more on the AC power (so, the bettery is idle) than it extends the life of the battery. but if you are using battery a lot more then AC power, then it doesn't matter.

Re: Power Manager for Windows 10?

Ok. Yes, it's my case. I use AC more often than bat it's because that I would like to be able to keep 50-60% charge level

Re: Power Manager for Windows 10?

Industry 'standards' are often driven by the need to increase sales and reduce costs (development). My TP batteries controlled to work between e.g., 44% and 88% limits last 2-3x longer than those always being topped to the max. That's also a reason for having these feature exposed by TP's upt to win7 via the TPM. See more:
"Also with the Lenovo Thinkvantage battery charger, you can set the charge threshold rate, so the battery won't charge all the time even if you are connected to the AC (the biggest benefits of Lenovo ThinkPad machine)."

Jin Li: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Lenovo-S430-disable-built-in-battery-pe...

see also https://leadorg.wordpress.com/technology/thinkvantage-power-manager/how-to-tpm-to-prolong-your-batte...

The capability --explicit in win7!-- to set the battery thresholds (Start/Stop charging) made me and many others to choose Lenovo. This has explicit s/w setting has vanished from win8 onward, and now in win10 it's becoming nearly impossible even via regedits.

And we're back...
