THINKPAD L380 can't update to windows 10 v1803

2018-05-16, 20:20 PM

Hi.

So at this moment i'm running windows 10 v1709.

When i try to update to windows 10 v1803 the following happens.

So i have two questions.

1) Why?

2) This happens if i try to update, but if i install it by default, this will happen?

Thanks.

You are getting that message because Lenovo has not verified that your model is compatible with 1803.

I am not sure why it is not compatible, but my guess is that it is due to device drivers not yet being available from the manufacturers of the devices used by Lenovo on that model, such as Display adapter, network cards etc., or that Lenovo has not yet completed certifying that model yet.

The good news is that if it is not compatible, the 1803 version was not installed leaving you with a laptop that does not work properly.

Keep checking the link below to see if your model is added to the list..

Lenovo devices tested for Windows 10 version 1803 (April, 2018)

Best of luck,

Hi,Win 10 v1803 would be ready soon on L380, testing was done by updating win10 from v1709 to v1803, there is no any abnormal.

can you go to Lenovo service for checking and techanical escaltion if needed?

just aware it's Thinkpad 13 Gen2 , not L380.

can you show more details about your updateing steps?

I updated successfully.

check the Microsoft web, found a KB seems related to this. can you have a try?

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_install-insiderplat_pc/windows-10-1709-1803-upgrade-fails-on-several/0102190d-3ca9-41be-8fae-6463d569722a

Here's the real answer. I tried 9 times. even with WU170509. And after "Reset Windows Update Tool" Windows update components must be repaired. And each time in updating, it would say failed due to error during migrating data operation. The real fix came with KB4103714. Pick 64bit or 32bit. http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4103714

Mine was 64bit. It installed the KB. The very next AUTO check for Updates was to install 1803. It installed! Done
