I updated 2 Yoga 900s with the only problem being that on one of them, the lockscreen was windowed.. X1C 3rd generation, no problem, ThinkPad Helix, 1rst generation, no problem.

You can also get the update manually:  Link here:  https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/08/02/how-to-get-the-windows-10-anniversary-update/

Scroll to bottom. The update wasn't offered to any of mine, I got it that way.

Regards,

Dave

Re: Windows 10 Anniversary Update?

Hey thanks guys for all the info and the suggestions. At the moment my z510's Windows Update doesn't show the AU, but anyway for now I have set my Wifi connection as metered so it doesn't automatically install updates (hopefully). Lots of problems seem to be arising and I upgraded to Win 10 from 8.1 just a couple of weeks ago... I'm just starting to get used to it so I'd rather wait it out a bit more...

Re: Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) ?

2016-08-10, 22:10 PM

I tried to download and install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, but it seems to setup a recovery image in my Lenovo Recovery Q Drive.  I only have 2.81 GB free of 9.76 GB in this drive so the download FAILS.  I cannot see what is taking up 6.95 GB so I cannot erase it.  I need to either increase the size of this Q Drive, or have the recovery image go somewhere else.  What can I do?  This is really irritating!  Lenovo needs to come up with a fix!

Welcome to the Lenovo Community JimmiVodka !

That is the same error message I would get with later installs of the Anniversary patch.  Using the Media Creation Tool that was mentioned earlier allowed the update to get past this error for me on three of my computers.

With a Yoga 3 Pro laptop, the Anniversary patch finally worked if I selected NOT to keep files and apps during the upgrade using the Media Creation Tool.  With my other computers I was able keep those files and apps using the tool.

I got this message updating from ISO file downloaded from MSDN.

I can upgrade if I decide to NOT to keep my app and files, but after that my lan card stopped working.

I'll try with the MCT.

EDIT: I have an Enterprise edition. Maybe is this the point ???

AU totally broke my T440p (Windows 10 Pro, clean installation).

I reinstalled Windows (clean install, the old way, with creating new partitions etc.) and I'm still experiencing issues like:

  1. Logging in to Windows takes forever.
  2. After I log in, Toolbars on the Taks bar don't load.
  3. Dropbox doesn't work
  4. A lot of other small issues

This is the worst update experience since I started using Windows in 1995. I hope that MS will release a patch real soon.

The install on my non-lenvo machines took several hours.  My fastest machine was done in 3 1/2 hours its a core i5 2.3 3230 with 8Gb of Ram.

My slowest an Acer netbook at 1Ghz took 7 1/2 hours.  Use this to gauge times. Assume a non linear scale.
