Windows 10 Crashing Gen4/5 X1Cs

2018-02-16, 14:12 PM

We've recently run in to an issue where a recent Windows 10 update is killing the systems ability to use USB peripherals such as keyboard/mice, regardless of being connected directly to the machine or thru a onelink dock. The only way we've been able to resovle the problem is to restore the system prior to a critical Windows update on 2/14/18, then boot the machine with the "disable driver signing" option. To let users still reboot on thier own we've also had to disable integrity checks via bcdedit.exe. So far this has occurred on 3 of 5 X1Cs and I am expected more to come...has anyone else experienced this problem?

We've narrowed the issue down to KB4074588 that recently installed. Note that this issue isn't limited to X1Cs, some of our Surface Pros started getting it as well. Once the update is uninstalled, the issue goes away. Hope this helps.

Hi PITSupport,

Have you used the Windows 10 Feedback Hub or reported this on Microsoft Forums? By doing that Microsoft can contact you for additional details if more information is needed.
