Re: Windows 10 Technical Preview - Compatibility List

2015-07-28, 20:39 PM
I am saddened by the lack of compatibility for most Lenovo laptop/device owners. I do not blame Lenovo only because I think they are trying to give windows 10 drivers where possible. However, Windows 10 forces driver downloads on some (maybe all) versions of Windows 10. So install a working driver and have windows 10 overwrite it. I have had that experience. My personal opinion is why upgrade? Yes it's free, but you get what you pay for.

Sorry, my win 10 was erased on my lenovo the other say in preparation for the upgrade. But, like I said above, I had the minimal drivers and did not load wacom, for instance. Touch worked with no driver install on my part.

My x220i tablet works well with the right drivers (I do not load all of them). Contact me if you want to know which ones help auto-rotate the screen.

As for support, I was surprised that old models (three generations or older) are even supported like mine. At the same time, given what I paid, that should make sense!

Re: Windows 10 Technical Preview - Compatibility List

So I tried updating my Lenovo Ideapad P400 from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Had all sorts of problems. Could not get the bluetooth working. Applications like SQL Server were crashing as was my default Chrome. Edge was slooooow and basically unusable. Struggled with it for a few hours and decided to rollback to 8.1. This was on an Intel i7 with 8 GB RAM.

Anyone have any luck with Ideapad P400? I have about 4 other computers that are running 8.1 and would rather avoid more of this bad experience. So far not very impressed...

Re: Windows 10 Technical Preview - Compatibility List

I have just upgraded my T440 (i5 processor) transferring all apps and settings from Win 8.1. Everything went smooth and with no errors, but performance in the first hour or so was very sluggish - I think the system was battling trying to get the file system in order.

No issues in device manager, even the Ericsson N5321 gw network card seems to be working - that has earlier been reported as incompatible with Win10.

Also my spare T60 is now running with the final version of Win10, very smooth and crisp even though it is a 9 year old relic. Special attention has to be made to use of the ATI X1300 grapics driver, but this is doable.
